This is my last week in Lubbock. Although I am going to miss many friends that I have made out here, I'm also glad to be moving closer to home. We put our house back on the market about a month ago and really haven't had many lookers, but with school ending and summer upon us I'm sure it will pick up. I'm excited and anxious at the same time. My last day with the City will be Friday and it's going to be very hard to say good-bye. I had a garage sale yesterday and will have another one Saturday to clean out some more stuff. Then on Sunday we will head to Rowlett/Plano. My first day with the City of Plano is supposed to be next Monday, June 7th. That means this next weekend is going to be CRAZY BUSY! JP has a final interview and more evaluations this week and next with the City of Plano also. Hopefully that will come through, they sound pretty promising. Lubbock has been a good growing process for us, hopefully Plano will be also. The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-50664466089070832042010-04-23T20:42:00.001-05:002010-04-23T20:51:32.240-05:00BellaIn February, I noticed an add on craig's list for heeler/corgie mix puppies. Me being the animal lover I am had to look. Sure enough they were cute as a bug. I remember Gunner being the cutest thing, so I told JP that I had found Gunner's sister. I didn't realize that it seriously was the same family that JP got Gunner from. When JP woke up from his nap, he looked at the pictures and wanted one so bad. They had 4 females and 1 male. After going to work and thinking about it all night he decided he wanted another one. When we get there we are told that these pups are Gunner's nieces and nephew. We noticed that the adult females were so much smaller than Gunner and decided on a girl. Bella is the sweetest dog, next to Bucky boy. She has put Gunner and Bucky in their place since she got home. Since Bucky is only 4 months older, they are the best of buddies. Gunner plays with her at times, but they are napping pals.

Bucky and Bella nappin on the floor.

Bucky curled up on the couch.

Bella and Gunner resting on the couch.

The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-2130786476536993162010-04-23T20:07:00.002-05:002010-04-23T20:16:57.990-05:00Bird CatchersOur dogs are the silliest things. You never know what you are going to find in their mouth outside. They love to chew on sticks, and have pruned our little pecan tree for us. We got a jolly ball, a ball for horses, for the boys to play with. They always tear everything up, so we thought it would be pretty durable...WRONG...well partially. I think we have had the ball since September, and I looked outside the other day and Bucky was chewing the handle off. I guess it couldn't last forever, but they can still play with it.

Tonight while I was sitting on the couch, I noticed white flying around outside. All three puppies were crowded around the white object. So I get up and notice it is moving. Bucky and Gunner had caught a bird. It wasn't dead, but still. I didn't want them to catch some disease from it! So I freak out and make JP come get rid of the bird. Gunner kept taking it away. It was such a funny sight! Who needs a cat when you have bird catching dogs? :)The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-59268245495518543012010-02-12T18:26:00.002-06:002010-02-12T18:45:20.254-06:00Taco RingI have been trying a few new recipes lately. The one that has had rave reviews is the taco ring. I got the recipe at a Pampered Chief party. After I made it the first time JP "gave me permission" to make it again. It is super easy and takes a no time to make, so I thought I would share for anyone that wants something for a change.

Ingredients:
1 pound of ground meat (I've tried ground turkey and hamburger. They were both "approved".)
1 package of taco seasoning (Follow the directions on the package, the one I use has 3/4 cup of water)
1/2 cup to a cup of shredded cheese (This just depends on your preference)
2 cans of crescent rolls

Pre-heat the oven to 375
Brown your meat and drain the grease.
While the meat is browning spread the crescent rolls out on a pan. If you have the round stone from Pampered Chief use that, if not a flat sheet will work too. Overlap the big ends around the inside of the stone/pan.
Add in the taco seasoning and water to the pan to cook as if you were going to make tacos.
When the seasoning is done, stir in the cheese.
Scoop the mixture on the big end of the crescent rolls.
Roll the small end over the mixture and tuck it under.
Put the pan in the oven for 15ish minutes till the crescents are done. Really just follow the directions on the crescent roll can.

When the taco ring is done enjoy! I enjoy putting a little ranch on mine, but it is great without it. The ladies at the party put lettuce and tomatoes in the middle of the ring after cooking, just like you would a taco.

Just food thought. Enjoy your weekend! Let me know how you like if you try it!The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-57816496102871313082010-02-05T19:37:00.004-06:002010-02-05T19:59:42.675-06:00Crafts and SuchThis weather is so driving me nuts! This week we got snow again on Wednesday. Thursday it went away and then today it was nice and pretty outside. They are calling for more snow next week! I'm not sure that it will stick since it's supposed to be in the 50's most of the week, but you never can tell.

This past week I've been a crafting fool! The sky has been red! While California is getting tons of rain and Canton getting tornadoes, we get the dust/wind storm. It's so strong it would almost blow you off the road if you are driving or on the ground if you are walking. I may be exaggerating a little on the walking part, but it's pretty strong! Hopefully it won't stay to nasty all weekend!

Sweet Bucky is growing like a weed! Since JP works nights, I have let the boys sleep with me on the weekends. They take up the whole bed! Gunner always tried to sleep on me or right up next to me. Bucky tries to sleep on my pillow. It wouldn't be so bad if it was just one pillow. When it comes to a pillow he only wants the one that my head is on at the moment. When he sleeps he cuddles my head and when he dreams kicks and scratches and claws at my head. He is a mess. He is enjoying playing outside with Gunner and the Jolly Ball. (A Jolly Ball is a ball for horses, but Gunner has torn up everything that we have bought for him to play with but this ball.)

Hope you all have a great weekend!

The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-15895835674538833442010-01-18T21:24:00.002-06:002010-01-18T21:36:49.219-06:00The Beginning of the End!Last week started another adventure for us, JP started back to school Wednesday! I'm so excited for him and us! Hopefully, he will be through with school by May 2011. This semester, he will be going to school during the day, coming home to sleep and do homework, and then making his way to work. I know he can do it because I worked full time while I was going to school. With the support from friends and family, I know it will be a lot easier on him this time! Pray that WE make it through math together. I have always been good with math, but it has been years since I really tried to do any "real" math. To me this is marks the beginning of the end of our adventure in West Texas. I'm so ready to be back in the trees and lakes of East Texas!

Counting down the days and praying for opportunities to open up! God will get us where we need to be!

Hope you all have a great week! The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-50612268637085112010-01-01T11:31:00.002-06:002010-01-01T12:13:39.154-06:00Good-Bye 09 Hello 2010!2009 has definitely been an interesting year! Not that it has been bad by any means, but just a little tough. I've heard that the first year of marriage is the hardest and they wouldn't go back to it for anything, but our first year, I would say, has been great! Here is a run down on our year.

January - I started out the year subbing for LISD and JP in the academy.
February- I got a call from the temp agency I worked the fair for saying that they had an interview for me at the City. JP started working as a dispatcher.
March - JP and I went camping at Palo Dura Canyon, on a cold, windy night. I didn't check the weather, as well as I thought, but we had a great time! We sold my truck and got a car.
April - We celebrated JP's 24th birthday. On his birthday, a horrible storm came through Lubbock, producing tornados, hail, and a lot of rain.
May - JP's family came to stay with us to watch his cousin, Ashley, graduate. I had a bad spell with migraines.
June - JP and I put a bid on a house that we had been looking at for a few months. I was finally hired on after a 3 month "trial period" at the City of Lubbock in the Purchasing department. We went to Pampa to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary with and got to see Nanny and Pa.
July - I totaled my car in a wicked fenderbender. We closed on our house after a few mishaps.
August - We both got vehicles. JP got a 07 Ford Lariat and I got a 07 Ford Excape.
September - Daddy scared us all and we made a running trip home in the middle of the night. Thankfully he was ok, and we got to see everyone, including Tabitha and Aubrie. I got promoted to an assistant buyer and JP finished his training. Matt and Beka came to visit.
October - I worked the fair again. We got Bucky.
November - We had to say good-bye to Tucker, it was a very sad week! We got to go home the week of my birthday, 25, and see most everyone. It was our family Thanksgiving and Christmas. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary. Thanksgiving day, we went to Canyon to eat with some family.
December - We got snowed two days before Christmas, it was a REAL blizzard. There is still snow on the ground in places. Mark and Sharon came to see us the Sunday after Christmas.

I don't usually stick to resolutions, so I'm not going to make any this year. I hope everyone has a great day, safe weekend and an even better 2010.The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-31009365067760636272009-11-27T10:38:00.002-06:002009-11-27T11:03:47.750-06:00HolidaysI have always loved the holidays! My favorite is either 4th of July or Thanksgiving, mainly because people get to wrapped up in the gifts than spending time with family and friends. This year JP had a week off November 9-18, so we went home. That was our Thanksgiving/Christmas run, since he had to work last night and will have to work Christmas eve, Christmas Day, New Years eve and New Years day. It was a long world wind trip, but I think we managed to see most all of our family. On the way back from the airport we managed a trip to the BassPro Shop. JP and Casey thought that stop was a must. I will say I kinda enjoyed it though. They had the bottom part of store set up like Santa's Winter Wonderland. Santa was there for pictures with his elves and a few reindeer. They had little games/toys set up to play with and fudge galore. It was pretty neat in my eyes. Casey and JP went hunting, moma and I went antique shopping. When we got to Mark and Sharon's, we tried to play rummy.

Yesterday, we went to Canyon to spend time with some of Nanny's family. Canyon is about an hour and a half from Lubbock. Jered and Kim have just moved into their new house and had her brothers and parents and all of his family over. It was quite a crowd. There was so much food, after we ate it didn't look like anyone had touched anything. I was so excited that they invited us over! Although I was prepared for it to just be us, I wasn't really looking forward to it. Last year I tried to cook for just us and it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. :)

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-71303149933929940142009-10-17T11:53:00.004-05:002009-10-17T12:05:11.964-05:00Bucky

Last Sunday we found the cutest puppy...the sucker I am wanted him so we got him! He is a Boston mix. We aren't sure what he is mixed with, the lady said they didn't realize that she was pregnant. I'm sure in about 6 months we will see. I wanted to call him Patches because of the patch over his eye, but JP didn't like it. He goes around acting like a bucking bull spinning around so I decided on the name Bucky or Buck. We went to the gun range about 3 and ended up coming home by 5 because it was so cold, 45 degrees. So when we got home I made the comment that we should build a fire in the fireplace! Great idea right! So we went outside and used the logs that Gunner has been playing with since we got here! It was very nice and cozy! Right now it is 35 degrees. I know it's colder in other places, Tabitha said it was down right cold in Cheyenne. I mean we have nothing on the foot of snow they had yesterday morning but still! Hope you all stay warm!

Gunner wanted to help.

Our first fire in our new house!
The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-89347574414235718242009-10-04T13:54:00.002-05:002009-10-04T13:57:37.392-05:00YAY JP!!!JP finished his 911 dispatcher training this week, no more geography! Last year when I couldn't find a job, I worked with a staffing company at the South Plains Fair taking tickets. Yes it was a little boring, but I found out a lot about the citizens of Lubbock, the fair brings out the best and the worst crowds. This year, I decided I would do it again. You see I ended up with the best job by the end of the fair, walking the robot and I knew I would get to do it again. Rock-it is a 9 foot robot with mad dance skills, the ability to make children scream and women melt, and the masses laugh. Since last Friday, I have been at the fair everyday as soon as I get off work, JP asked if I feel like a Carnie yet. Rock-it comes out of the coliseum to meet the crowds that are in line for the concerts, Boys-2-Men and Billy Currington just to name a few, and the children that are both amazed and scared by the purple giant. This year, along with his scooter rides, Rock-it signed autographs, everyone was amazed and wanted one. The questions always rise, "Is there a man in there?", "Is that a real robot?" "Where are your controls?", and "How does he do that?" People really amaze me! :)

<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 240px; height: 320px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiI20dBRkHy54oYiMFtzuq2lfCfyuZvb9UFKQbhFC5c6e5cc8Iv6bWr-nXrBwqLcOsndOGNyC0q9g1evdtD0HON9k_T3gFNgpLR907ZihMsqudgfbN84PtsaE3bepebfuqgSRw_sIkj8UfC/s320/photo.jpg" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5388816424320154434" />

The guys that run the outside entertainment were amazing. I was invited to attend a BB-Q where I got to meet many of the entertainers and here their stories of how they got to be where they are today. From the bear show to the shark show, they were all completely different.

I'll have to admit that I will miss them, but I'm ready for a little bit of rest. I have met JP at the PD before he goes to work for a few minutes the nights I could. He admitted yesterday that he was ready to "have me back", I think it is just so I will wash some clothes. :)

Hope you all have a great week! The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-16549681369944690032009-08-30T20:23:00.004-05:002009-08-30T20:56:42.137-05:00Out comes the stars!I honestly wonder if my nerves are shot! So much has gone on in the past 2 months! The wreck, buying the house, packing, unpacking (kinda), finally getting a new vehicle or 2, and now the possibility of a new position at work, it's no wonder I had such a migraine last week! I hold a lot in and it had to find a way out! I'm supposedly the new assistant buyer for the City of Lubbock. I'm actually nervous about tomorrow! I know I can do it, but I'm not sure that they think I can. I see the look of uncertainty in their eyes, and it really bothers me! Hopefully tomorrow will go alright!

I did have a huge oops today! So, while I'm up on the stool putting up my sign, I turn around to talk to Tiffany and decide to I'm done hanging stuff. Well the bright and clumsy person I am, decided I was going to slide down the wall and sit on the stool. Well that stool decided it didn't wanna cooperate with me, and slid out from under me! I busted it! After I got over the shock of falling, I laughed at myself for a good 30 minutes. I so should have known better!

On a positive note, I have gone through boxes in 'my' room. I have gotten some pictures up and arranged some of my scrapbook stuff. I am starting a star collection for this room...any size, color, or shape. It will go with my "Reach for the Stars" sign I made a while back! The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-51372737394030009592009-07-17T17:48:00.002-05:002009-07-17T17:56:59.485-05:00Let the Countdown Begin! This time next week JP and I will be homeowners! YAY! We are scheduled to close at 11:30 Friday morning. Hopefully this weekend we can get more stuff ready! The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com2tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-48079484607392576882009-07-17T17:35:00.002-05:002009-07-17T17:38:36.595-05:00TotaledSo it's official, they totaled my car. So for the second time this year we will be looking for another vehicle. We had only had that car since March. :*( Maybe JP's right..."When buying a car, buy American. When buying for Heather, buy a tank." Such love in those words! :)The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-69802924866178608062009-07-13T13:59:00.004-05:002009-07-13T14:16:36.416-05:00Just my luck!<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgxWfOIxh27CzEP-5Wp3sPLuqbk-3g5iw-UxhhEYGb1jUF4EvEYtkTnhmSvZZqxoRneA1yjlHmq7TXJjXaX1iPkLBvZlzMDaAcP-ONY0kELOjHmUXkFVHPTTrnKrrmQR5GnY91Fu7CW2sRz/s320/165.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358025585758508466" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjPuzbvXPMjRQN0Bm7MLEvYbbLaO0mBGxcj-ucnw8q_tK2lot2YUy9wIM9BXIDJh2-GHFxF-wGGIO-yoeAJisj41eZPrRBPfHwMA9ibIUofwo7HzZ-vwKXEYl5zgoAIWVnvOgPqAk22Tfol/s320/164.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358025128636044962" />
<img style="display:block; margin:0px auto 10px; text-align:center;cursor:pointer; cursor:hand;width: 320px; height: 240px;" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgy_RDJXGHzOd3vMnGvwCgloxBEpD1FUTJw1qWjQm1FLbPABB3bje_N-MWJLrHOdcquK7tz860cWXpqP8r5HQrIQhDBGS4krQMEap_vwvd4cn6g-hVKuiGzt7s_zXD0zj4NP9YzNWABgd3S/s320/163.JPG" border="0" alt=""id="BLOGGER_PHOTO_ID_5358024286548512962" />
Today has not been the best of days. Yes I woke up in time to get to work early, but I didn't actually make it there. Since they messed up the Marsha Sharp ramp that I usually get on to make it to work I had to go down 19th. Where traffic merges the guy in front of me slowed down to let others merge in front. My foot slipped off the break to the gas. I couldn't get back to the break in time and smacked the bumper of a Ford Escape. It didn't hurt his vehicle much at all. He was really more worried about getting to work than his car, but I made him stay for the police. Luckily JP was at home...I screamed him out of bed to come to my rescue. When I got out of the car it was still running and in drive...not a good sign. The radiator was leaking and pretty much punched into the car. The airbags didn't activate and the seat belt didn't catch like it's supposed to during a wreck. I wasn't hurt too bad. I have a nice bruise where my left leg meets my hip and sore on my left side but I'm alive and still kicking. The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-75219433933738829112009-06-11T21:39:00.004-05:002009-06-11T21:59:55.043-05:00Our House!
Last Thursday, JP and I decided to go ahead and put a bid on the house we have been looking at for a few months. We had heard that the lady that owns the house is pretty difficult to work with so we were kinda worried about how it would work out. We didn't hear anything Friday, Saturday, or Sunday...needless to say everytime I talked to JP he was asking if I had heard anything yet. Finally Monday afternoon our realtor called with a counter offer, and we counter offered again. We were thinking she wouldn't accept it, since she was supposed to be such a tough lady, and started looking at other houses online. We even scheduled a time to actually go into a few houses so we wouldn't lose anytime. That afternoon our realtor called back to say she accepted out terms! :) We are so excited! The house is super cute and will be even cuter after we add a little be of own personal touch to it! We have scheduled the inspection for next Thursday. If everything goes well there we will be under contract for the house. We scheduled to close twards the end of July to give the bank plenty of time to get everything together. They said that some refinancing of houses were taking 60 days or more, so we didn't want to risk anything.

JP picked me up from work on Tuesday and we went to Lowe's to look at paint and flooring stuff! It's so exciting! We have a whole list of things that we imagine doing to our house over time! It's almost like a dream!

Hope you have a Friday and weekend!
Today is my official hire date for the City of Lubbock. I signed most of my paperwork Friday, with the exception to the benefit package. At orientation I will sign all the benefit stuff. It's so great to know that I have the job, after 3 months of being a temp! Everyone seems to be excited that I'm on board. Unlike some of my other jobs, there isn't any drama with someone not liking someone because they don't do their job right or the clash of personalities. Everyone seems down to earth, laid back and very friendly.

JP has had an interesting few weeks at work. Things are continuing to get better! With him working 10-6 I've seen him a lot more than the 2-10 shift. I've really enjoyed it! His sleep schedule is still off but hopefully it will get closer to normal when he gets a set shift, next month I think. He has started cooking breakfast or bringing something home. It's quite nice to wake up to him rather than the alarm clock!

Hope you all have a great weekend! The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-33903594744994476182009-05-18T21:55:00.002-05:002009-05-18T22:17:46.462-05:00RELIEF!This weekend was pretty rough! Friday night laying in bed I began to twitch...again. I knew the rest of the weekend was pretty much shot! I woke up Saturday morning feeling ok...not great but good enough! JP came home and wanted to go eat breakfast. WONDERFUL! I love me some Ihop...strawberry stuffed french toast YUMMY! When we get home it's nap time right after all it's 7 am after all is said and done. After waking up from the nap I felt a shot to the head! I was pretty weak! I crawled back into bed but the pillows over my eyes, which felt amazing, and went back to sleep. I know it sounds horrible to sleep all day but with these migraines I can't do much else. We got up and found something to eat for supper and got a few movies to watch. During the movies the nausea and sharp pain/pressure in my eyes started, some of the many perks of migraines! Sunday was not much better. The sharp sudden pain to the right side of my head brought me to my knees many times and the twitching came again Sunday night. Today I decided enough was enough and went to the doctor. He told me he though it was a combination of tension headache, migraine, and muscle spasms. He gave me Frova for the migraine and then a shot of cortisone and zylacane in my shoulder to relieve the tension. Almost immediately I felt relief, then weakness (I'm a fainter)! It was amazing that in such a short time I didn't feel the knots in my shoulder! I wonder how long it will last? They also had me on some oxygen. The lady went out to get JP before they gave me the shot and told me she was going to tell him it was something really bad. He laughed so hard when he saw me with the oxygen on! After working at the assisted living center I wonder how those ladies and men deal with being on oxygen all the time! It would drive me nuts!
I'm so glad that JP was there! He cracked me up the whole time! I would have been a mess without him, plus they wouldn't have given it to me!
Hallelujah for medicine and a good husband! The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com3tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-80423613084210826642009-05-15T22:25:00.004-05:002009-05-15T23:07:15.329-05:00It's been a while...
Life in Lubbock has been anything but normal this week! It was good to see Parkerson/Norris/Barker clan last weekend! We definitely had a good time cooking and catching up some! Thank you for leaving all the desserts in my refrigerator! I see them ever time I open the door...they scream eat me! :)

JP started working midnights this week. He has gone in early a couple of times for overtime which is good and bad. Good because well obviously more money, but bad because he goes in around 6 close to when I get home. I'm kinda partial to seeing him everyday for more than 10 minutes. :) It's taking a little while to get adjusted to going to bed without him. I've tried to get the dogs in the bed with me, Tucker will but Gunner won't. Tuck will curl up against my leg and start snoring, literally. During the day Gunner will love all over me eating up the attention he gets. But at night he will get on the bed while the light is on, but as soon as I turn it off he jumps off and crawls under the bed. JP claims that Gunner is a one person dog and I'm starting to believe him. Last night I got scared, silly little sounds. I grabbed their pens and brought them into the bedroom. Gunner roamed around the floor for a while until I took one of JP's under shirts and put it into his pen. He crawled in and fell asleep. Good thing they can't talk or they would be telling me how crazy I am!

Wednesday Ashley and I went and grabbed some foil for my night owl to sleep during the day. We taped the foil to the windows to blackout the room. It was so funny/odd to wake up Thursday morning and not see any light in the bedroom. I almost turned around and went back to sleep until I looked at the clock and decided I needed to get up to get ready for work. This week is supposed to be the week I can start working as a real city employee. Hopefully everything will turn out the way it's been planned, by both parties. I don't want to have to look for another job! :) but I know everything will work out for the best!

On a last and funny note, I rented Hotel for Dogs tonight. Gunner and Tuck started watching it with me. As they watched the dogs started barking in the movie. They ran around the house, barking, trying to find them and then to the door as to let them in. :) The Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-44473520198840223002009-04-17T17:28:00.006-05:002009-04-17T18:34:00.065-05:00James 4This week we are to read over James 4. Some of it is hard to swallow. I know I had read it before, but now it really makes me think about things that are going on, not only in my live but the world as a whole.

James 4:1-17
1 What is the source of quarrels and conflicts among you? Is it not the source of your pleasures that wage war in your members? 2 You lust and do not have so you commit murder. You are envious and cannot obtain so you fight and quarrel. You do not have because you do not ask.
3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask with wrong motives, so that you may spend it on your pleasures.
4 You adulteresses, do you not know that friendships with the world is hostility toward God? Therefore whoever wished to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scriptures speaks to no purpose "He jealously desires the Spirit which He made to dwell in us?" 6 But He gives a greater grace. Therefore it says "GOD IS OPPOSED TO THE PROUD, BUT GIVES GRACE TO THE HUMBLE."
7 Submit therefore to God Resist the devil and he will flee from you. 8. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you Cleanse your hands sinners and purify your hearts, you double-minded.
9 Be miserable and mourn and weep, let your laughter be turned into mourning and your joy to gloom.
10 Humble yourself in the sight of the Lord and He will exalt you
11 Do not speak against one another, brethren. He who speaks against a brother or judges his brother, speaks against the law and judges the law; but if you judge the law you are not a doer of the law but a judge of it. 12 There is only one Lawgiver and Judge the One who is able to save and to destroy but who are you who judge your neighbor?
13 Come now, you who say "Today or tomorrow we will go to such and such a city and spend a year there and engage in business and make a profit." 14 Yet you do not know what your life will be like tomorrow. You are just a vapor that appears for a little while and then vanishes away. 15 Instead say "If the Lord wills we live and also do this or that."
16 But as it is, you boast in your arrogance, all such boasting is evil
17 Therefore, to one who knows the right thing to do and does not do it, to him it is sin.

I know there are times I catch myself judging people, when I have no place, wanting what others have when I have great things myself, but desire bigger and better. I have prayed for things with selfish intentions and wondered why things didn't turn out the way I wanted, not even thinking/realizing that God knows MY HEART as well as he knows anyone else's.
Hebrews 4:12-13 For the word of God is living and active and sharper than any two-edged sword and piercing as far as the divisions of the soul and spirit of both joints and marrow and able to judge the thoughts and intentions of the heart and there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are open and laid bare to the eyes of Him with whom we have to do.

It just made me think how often we let things slip by like know one knows what's going on inside out head or 'our world'. God knows...EVERYTHING! Every peep or thought that crosses our mind he knows! Trust in Him. Rely on Him and not things or people of the world. He provides for the birds of the air, would he not do the same for us. He will not give you more than you can handle. Let things happen all in God's good time.

Just a few things that went through my head after my reading. Maybe it can be today's scripture/reflection for you...it's only words unless you apply it.

Around 4:15 or so one of the guys from the managers office came and told us we needed to go to the basement right away. There had been a tornado warning (one had been sighted) and it was getting nasty outside. We stayed in the basement for over an hour waiting on the weather to pass. Luckily there wasn't a touchdown near us or even in the city. There was hail quarter sized! Driving home I passed several dealerships. It looked like it had snowed on their lots! The streets were flooded, many that should have been closed. I'm surprised that I made it home. JP has been at work since 2 and has said that work has been busy!! I can only imagine! It has started hailing again at the house and the dogs didn't like it hitting the window! More yucky weather to come! I'm sure many pictures of this will be posted on the internet, and I didn't take any, but here is a site that has a few good ones and more to come! I hope everyone has a dry night!

http://www.weathernow.tv/first_pics/thumbsThe Parkerson'shttp://www.blogger.com/profile/10349554823230331007noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3212189468865104916.post-18338316563523823122009-04-02T19:27:00.007-05:002009-04-02T20:32:03.398-05:00I am my daddy's girl!

When I was little, I remember dragging out of bed early (6:30 to a 5 year old is ear l y) to eat breakfast before school. Daddy would be sitting in his chair and I would crawl up into his lap wearing a 'meaner than a junk pile bass' t-shirt and sporting a horrible Dorothy Hamill haircut. He would be doctoring his coffee and I would tell him "Inna wine it Daddy...Inna wine it!" meaning I want to wind/stir his coffee. See Daddy likes milk and sugar in his coffee...not black like Momma.

Well yesterday I broke down and got a coffee pot intending to use it to make coffee not hot water like I normally would. Staying up waiting for JP makes me seriously tired during the day, but I need/have to see him so I stay up so I can spend sometime with him....it stinks not having him around the house when I'm home! Anyways...so I got the coffee pot that you can program and since I don't like the thought of regular coffee I got french vanilla. I wake up this morning get in the shower and my coffee is ready when I get out. I took a sip of it straight without adding anything and I almost thought I had made a BAD decision. So I add a little bit of milk and try it...not too bad, but still missing something. I add a little sugar, but it still needs more. Finally I got it to taste the way I wanted and drank the whole pot...not all before I left for work though I had to take some with me. I have been on a caffeine high all day! Tomorrow I think I'll do it again! :)

I've been cleaning and cooking supper for JP when he gets home. The dogs and I miss him!
