Good-Bye 09 Hello 2010!

2009 has definitely been an interesting year! Not that it has been bad by any means, but just a little tough. I've heard that the first year of marriage is the hardest and they wouldn't go back to it for anything, but our first year, I would say, has been great! Here is a run down on our year.

January - I started out the year subbing for LISD and JP in the academy.
February- I got a call from the temp agency I worked the fair for saying that they had an interview for me at the City. JP started working as a dispatcher.
March - JP and I went camping at Palo Dura Canyon, on a cold, windy night. I didn't check the weather, as well as I thought, but we had a great time! We sold my truck and got a car.
April - We celebrated JP's 24th birthday. On his birthday, a horrible storm came through Lubbock, producing tornados, hail, and a lot of rain.
May - JP's family came to stay with us to watch his cousin, Ashley, graduate. I had a bad spell with migraines.
June - JP and I put a bid on a house that we had been looking at for a few months. I was finally hired on after a 3 month "trial period" at the City of Lubbock in the Purchasing department. We went to Pampa to celebrate a 50th wedding anniversary with and got to see Nanny and Pa.
July - I totaled my car in a wicked fenderbender. We closed on our house after a few mishaps.
August - We both got vehicles. JP got a 07 Ford Lariat and I got a 07 Ford Excape.
September - Daddy scared us all and we made a running trip home in the middle of the night. Thankfully he was ok, and we got to see everyone, including Tabitha and Aubrie. I got promoted to an assistant buyer and JP finished his training. Matt and Beka came to visit.
October - I worked the fair again. We got Bucky.
November - We had to say good-bye to Tucker, it was a very sad week! We got to go home the week of my birthday, 25, and see most everyone. It was our family Thanksgiving and Christmas. We celebrated our first wedding anniversary. Thanksgiving day, we went to Canyon to eat with some family.
December - We got snowed two days before Christmas, it was a REAL blizzard. There is still snow on the ground in places. Mark and Sharon came to see us the Sunday after Christmas.

I don't usually stick to resolutions, so I'm not going to make any this year. I hope everyone has a great day, safe weekend and an even better 2010.

Holidays

I have always loved the holidays! My favorite is either 4th of July or Thanksgiving, mainly because people get to wrapped up in the gifts than spending time with family and friends. This year JP had a week off November 9-18, so we went home. That was our Thanksgiving/Christmas run, since he had to work last night and will have to work Christmas eve, Christmas Day, New Years eve and New Years day. It was a long world wind trip, but I think we managed to see most all of our family. On the way back from the airport we managed a trip to the BassPro Shop. JP and Casey thought that stop was a must. I will say I kinda enjoyed it though. They had the bottom part of store set up like Santa's Winter Wonderland. Santa was there for pictures with his elves and a few reindeer. They had little games/toys set up to play with and fudge galore. It was pretty neat in my eyes. Casey and JP went hunting, moma and I went antique shopping. When we got to Mark and Sharon's, we tried to play rummy.

Yesterday, we went to Canyon to spend time with some of Nanny's family. Canyon is about an hour and a half from Lubbock. Jered and Kim have just moved into their new house and had her brothers and parents and all of his family over. It was quite a crowd. There was so much food, after we ate it didn't look like anyone had touched anything. I was so excited that they invited us over! Although I was prepared for it to just be us, I wasn't really looking forward to it. Last year I tried to cook for just us and it didn't turn out as well as I had hoped. :)

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving!

Bucky

Last Sunday we found the cutest puppy...the sucker I am wanted him so we got him! He is a Boston mix. We aren't sure what he is mixed with, the lady said they didn't realize that she was pregnant. I'm sure in about 6 months we will see. I wanted to call him Patches because of the patch over his eye, but JP didn't like it. He goes around acting like a bucking bull spinning around so I decided on the name Bucky or Buck. He loves to play with Tuck and Gunner and snuggle!

Rewind...

A few weeks ago JP's brother and his wife, Matt and Beka, came to visit! We went to the corn maze and watched a lot of football! Beka had her first experience with Caine's, I'm sure it will not be the last. Next time we'll make it to the drive in!

Cold Weather

So yesterday seemed like it as the first day of winter! We went to the gun range about 3 and ended up coming home by 5 because it was so cold, 45 degrees. So when we got home I made the comment that we should build a fire in the fireplace! Great idea right! So we went outside and used the logs that Gunner has been playing with since we got here! It was very nice and cozy! Right now it is 35 degrees. I know it's colder in other places, Tabitha said it was down right cold in Cheyenne. I mean we have nothing on the foot of snow they had yesterday morning but still! Hope you all stay warm!

Gunner wanted to help.

Our first fire in our new house!

YAY JP!!!

JP finished his 911 dispatcher training this week, no more geography! I am so proud of him! I know it has been super tough! YAY JP!

Just a Little Rest

This past few weeks have been crazy, but the last especially. Last year when I couldn't find a job, I worked with a staffing company at the South Plains Fair taking tickets. Yes it was a little boring, but I found out a lot about the citizens of Lubbock, the fair brings out the best and the worst crowds. This year, I decided I would do it again. You see I ended up with the best job by the end of the fair, walking the robot and I knew I would get to do it again. Rock-it is a 9 foot robot with mad dance skills, the ability to make children scream and women melt, and the masses laugh. Since last Friday, I have been at the fair everyday as soon as I get off work, JP asked if I feel like a Carnie yet. Rock-it comes out of the coliseum to meet the crowds that are in line for the concerts, Boys-2-Men and Billy Currington just to name a few, and the children that are both amazed and scared by the purple giant. This year, along with his scooter rides, Rock-it signed autographs, everyone was amazed and wanted one. The questions always rise, "Is there a man in there?", "Is that a real robot?" "Where are your controls?", and "How does he do that?" People really amaze me! :)

The guys that run the outside entertainment were amazing. I was invited to attend a BB-Q where I got to meet many of the entertainers and here their stories of how they got to be where they are today. From the bear show to the shark show, they were all completely different.

I'll have to admit that I will miss them, but I'm ready for a little bit of rest. I have met JP at the PD before he goes to work for a few minutes the nights I could. He admitted yesterday that he was ready to "have me back", I think it is just so I will wash some clothes. :)

Hope you all have a great week!
